En net als je denkt dat je je hond goed luisterend hebt……start de puberteit!! Commando’s die ooit zo goed gingen, lijkt hij opeens vergeten. Buiten is alles leuker dan de baas en luisteren ho maar!
Juist op dit moment is het ongelooflijk belangrijk om door te pakken met training. Want je hond heeft het zelf ook heel erg zwaar in de puberteit en heeft jouw sturing en begeleiding echt nodig om juiste keuzes te leren maken.

In deze cursus, welke start met een theorieles , gaan we eerst goed bekijken wat puberteit bij honden nu precies is. Wat gebeurt er op lichamelijk niveau, wat gebeurt er op mentaal niveau. Waarom reageert je hond ineens zo anders en lijkt hij alles vergeten? Wat communiceert hij naar zijn soortgenoot en hoe kun je zien of die ontmoeting leuk of niet leuk gaat worden? Geloof me, na deze theorieles kijk je heel anders naar je hond en besef je hoe hard hij je nodig heeft.
Omdat wij als hondenschool het zo verschrikkelijk belangrijk vinden dat jullie je hond goed leren lezen hebben we een tweede theorieles in deze cursus die je kennis rondom die lichaamstaal nog eens extra controleert en verdiept. In de daaropvolgende 8 praktijklessen gaan we vooral praktisch aan de gang.
Omdat andere honden juist nu ineens zo interessant gaan worden, gaan we in deze cursus ook echt oefenen om je hond uit contact met andere honden te krijgen als jij dat wilt. Spelen met soortgenoten is de ultieme beloning voor veel honden maar het is van levensbelang dat we ze altijd bij ons kunnen krijgen indien nodig. Een hond die niet betrouwbaar is in zijn hierkomen, is gedoemt tot een leven aan de lijn en dat gunnen we geen enkele hond.
We werken in deze cursus ook op het uitvoeren van commando’s als de hond ver bij de baas vandaan is, het zogenaamde appél op afstand.
In contact blijven met je baas ook als de hele wereld schreeuwt om je aandacht is voor de honden nu heel belangrijk om te leren. Dit is dan ook de rode draad door de cursus heen.
Wandelen zonder trekken wordt ineens ook weer moeilijker als je buiten zo afgeleid bent dus ook die wordt uitgebreid behandeld, evenals het opspringen tegen mensen.
Omdat onze puberhonden soms echt even het contact met hun baas kwijt raken en ze daardoor heel vaak horen dat ze dingen niet goed doen ( we mopperen onbewust veel tegen onze pubers) gaan we in deze cursus ook aan de gang met speuren. Dat kunnen ALLE honden goed en komt de focus meer te liggen op dingen die ze wel goed kunnen. Zowel voor hond als baas heel fijn om te ervaren dat er wel degelijk nog teamwerk mogelijk is.
Pubers zijn fantastisch als je ze begrijpt! Dus als je het gevoel hebt het contact met je hond kwijt te raken in deze periode dan is deze cursus een absolute aanrader.
Maar vanzelfsprekend is het nog fijner om deze cursusstof al in je binnenzak te hebben zitten voordat je hond de puberteit echt gaat ervaren.
Het is een verademing voor baasjes om in een groep met andere ‘lotgenoten’ te staan en te ervaren dat je niet de enige bent. En nog veel fijner om te ervaren dat zelfs de grootste puber echt kan luisteren als je weet wat jij als eigenaar moet doen!
